THE WEBER STANDARD
If you don’t stand for a high standard, you’ll fall for a low one.

Weber County doesn’t need a manager. It needs a LEADER!

Fiscal Extreme Ownership
The Standard: Every tax dollar is a unit of a citizen’s life-force. It must be treated with reverence.
- The Policy: I will initiate a “Line-Item Audit” mindset. If a department cannot prove a direct benefit to the residents of Weber County, the funding is a failure of leadership.
- The Commitment: I am not here to “manage” a budget. I am here to optimize your investment.
The Truth as a Default
The Standard: “Tell the truth—or at least, don’t lie.” (Peterson).
- The Policy: No “Political Speak.” If the county is facing a shortfall, I will tell you. If a project is behind schedule, I will tell you why. Transparency isn’t a buzzword; it’s the only way to maintain a functional society.
- The Commitment: You will never have to guess where I stand. My vote will always be followed by a public “Reason Why” statement posted to this site.

Growth Through Discipline
The Standard: Weber County is growing. We can either be victims of that growth or architects of it.
- The Policy: We will prioritize infrastructure and safety before expansion. We don’t build houses without roads; we don’t invite growth without a plan to protect the “small-town” grit that makes Weber County home.
- The Commitment: I will vote “No” on any development that puts an undue burden on existing taxpayers. We lead the growth; we don’t let the growth lead us.
Leading the Next Generation
The Standard: We are building a county our children will be proud to inherit.
- The Policy: Supporting local youth sports, trade schools, and programs that foster the “Do Hard Things” mentality. A community is only as strong as the character of its youngest members.
- The Commitment: I will treat the Commission seat as a temporary stewardship, not a career. My goal is to leave the office better than I found it, so the next leader has a foundation of excellence to build upon.

Governance: Daily Accountability
The Standard: Daily accountability. Duane’s office will operate on a “Win the Day” metric.
- Total Independence: Zero meetings with lobbyists or special interest groups behind closed doors.
- Direct Accessibility: A monthly “Open Door” session for any resident.
- No Waste: A commitment to find at least 5% efficiency in every department I oversee.
The Caucus System: Leadership is Earned, NOT BOUGHT
The Standard: Respect the Process. Reject the Shortcuts.
In Utah, we have a system designed to vet candidates through their neighbors—not through high-priced consultants and signature-gathering firms. Like the Founders, I believe in a Republican form of government where representatives are held accountable by the people they live next to. “I will never bypass the people to fast-track my own ambition.”
Why I Support the Caucus & Convention:
- Vetting Over Volume: I believe candidates should have to look delegates in the eye and answer the hard questions. If a candidate can’t survive a neighborhood caucus, they don’t have the discipline to lead a county.
- Integrity Over Influence: The “Signature Path” allows wealthy interests to buy their way onto a ballot. It bypasses the grassroots and favors the “political insider.” I reject this method entirely.
- Closed Primaries: I support closed primaries to ensure that the party’s nominee actually reflects the values of the people who built the platform.
