MEET DUANE KEARSLEY
“Leadership is a result of discipline. There are no shortcuts.”

I didn’t learn about leadership in a political textbook. I learned it in the dirt of Plain City, on the back of a racehorse, and at the end of a concrete pour.
I’m a Weber High graduate (Class of ’94), a business owner, a father, and a coach. But above all, I am a man who believes that how you do anything is how you do everything. Whether I’m training horses or managing multi-million dollar county facilities, the standard remains the same: Excellence is the only acceptable outcome.
A TRADITION OF HARD WORK
In 1997, I started my own concrete construction business. That same year, I married my wife, Jamie. Building a business and a family simultaneously teaches you a specific kind of grit. It teaches you that if you don’t perform, you don’t eat. I’ve carried that private-sector urgency into everything I’ve done since.
For over 25 years, I’ve donated my time to the Wasatch Slopes Chariot Association, maintaining the race track at the Weber County Fairgrounds. That wasn’t for a paycheck—it was for the community. That service led me to my current role as the Facility Manager at the Golden Spike Event Center.
REAL RESULTS, NOT REASONS WHY
last 3.5 years at Golden Spike, I’ve led a team committed to one goal: Raising the Bar. * We didn’t just “manage” the facility; we created a culture of winning.
- We stopped making excuses for inefficiency and started finding solutions.
- The Result: We’ve saved the taxpayers thousands of dollars while simultaneously increasing the level of performance and service for our residents.
THE PURSUIT OF PERSONAL EXCELLENCE
I believe a leader who cannot lead himself has no right to lead others. To sharpen my own discipline, I’ve sought out the best mentors in the world—leaders like Andy Andrews, Andy Frisella, David Goggins, and Cameron Hanes. Their influence didn’t just stay in my head; it moved to my feet. I’ve pushed my body and mind through multiple 100-mile ultra-marathons. Those miles teach you exactly who you are when things get dark and difficult. I’m bringing that same “don’t quit” mentality to the Weber County Commission.

WHY I’M STANDING UP
I love this community. I’ve spent years coaching our youth in softball, wrestling, football, and baseball because I want the next generation to understand the value of a hard-earned victory.
Weber County is at a crossroads. We don’t need more career politicians who are afraid to ruffle feathers. We need a boots-on-the-ground leader with real-world business experience who knows how to cut waste and demand excellence.
I’ve already been doing the work. I’ve already been saving your money. Now, I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and work for the hardworking people of Weber County.
